Forget what people say or what you may have been told. The important thing is WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?
Being Born Again is not a man made thing. It’s a GOD thing. GOD is a Spirit.
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
This is why we must be born again of the Spirit.
John 3:3-7
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”
Nicodemus asked about a second natural birth, but Jesus was talking about a Spiritual Birth.
Remember, GOD is a Spirit. To be born into HIS family we need a Spiritual birth.
The first time this happened it was on the day of Pentecost, fifty days after the death of Jesus on the cross. It is recorded in the second chapter of the book of Acts (The Acts of the Apostles). Here are some excerpts:
Acts 2:1-4
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The appearance of fire only happened the first time, like the first time the law was read, but the speaking in tongues continues until Jesus returns to winds up this age.
Here is how the apostle Peter put it:
Acts 2:37-40
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Verse 38 tells us the steps of the new birth:
1. Repent (be sorry for the wrong things you have done)
2. Be baptized (dunked in water) in the name of Jesus.
It’s the Name of Jesus that has the power to wash your sins away, titles father, son and holy spirt just don’t cut it. There are no examples of people being baptized in the titles, but we have several examples of “Jesus’ Name baptism". Get it right.
3. Receive the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) You know this happens when you speak in a language you never learned by the power of God’s Spirit flowing through you.
4. Become a part of a truth preaching church (assembly) The Bible does not stop here and neither should you. We need each other to grow in God and help others to grow in Christ.
